“Cat!”
Here are Liam and Pan sharing a cookie. The boy has added three new words to his repetoir – “Car”, “Truck”, and “Cup”. They all sound exactly like “Cat” to everyone but me.

Our self-professed alpha cat Pan needs some extra love. Once tied for most photographed, he has now dropped to second most photographed in the house (tied for second, actually, but let’s not make him feel worse). In efforts to buttress his flagging self esteem, we entered his photo in a local news station’s cutest pet competition and he made the finals. (Note: that’s him on the cat button too)
So, help a kitten out and vote.
So the day finally came. Two days, actually. I had to load the boy in the car and drive him to sleep in the afternoon twice last week. He took very short morning naps and completely refused afternoon naps from Wednesday through Saturday (thankfully, he continued to sleep well at night). So we drove for milkshakes on Wednesday and Friday (Chick-fil-A, I thank you and my thighs thank you), had a marathon walk on Thursday, and gave him to Grandma and Grandpa on Saturday. Yesterday… he had a two hour morning nap and a 2.5 hour afternoon nap and was asleep by 6:15. Go figure.
Liam also made an amazing, ground breaking discovery. Wait for it. We have cats!
Funny that 2 cats can fit (sort of) on a doormat, but only 1 at a time on the 5′x8′ flokati…
Oy! Toni Basil will be warbling in my head all day now…

Here’s the very late, promised photo of Mickey with his favorite toy, the crinkle frog. I finally figured out how to take a decent photo of Pan and Thor (all white is tough!), obviously my black cat pics need some serious work. Someday I’ll get a shot of all three boys together – as soon as I figure out how to expose for 2 white cats and 1 black one in the same frame. Someday.
In the meantime, here’s a flash photo of Pan investigating Mickey’s second favorite toy, the crinkle snake…
Welcoming Mick into the family has been a much easier transition than feared. The age difference may keep the boys from playing together (Mickey’s 15 year-old body is not interested in the wild and crazy tackle-tag of the 5 year-olds), but they have no worries about napping in the same room and eating side by side.
Most importantly we can now be sure to have visible cat hair on everything we own, white fur on black clothes and black fur on white. Yay.
According to the Stitch ‘n Bitch page-a-day calendar, I am now permenantly bound to the kittens (as is everyone who has received a knitted item from me)…Wonder how they feel about that?
Having a new camera and a pair of white cats has led me to the inevitable, high key photos. Tell me what you think… Constructive critisism will be greatly appreciated.
Thor on the floor. Does this really count as high key or is there too much shadow?
Thor in the window (again). Does the soft focus add or detract?
