Surprisingly, I did get a few passable shots for the cards and therefore did not cancel Christmas. But it was a close call.

Fashion Notes

  • Liam’s hat is the Santa Hat from Handknit Holidays by Melanie Falick. It’s made with Knit Picks Gloss HW in wine and Cascade Magnum in ecru. The child’s size used about 1/2 ball of each on US 8 and 15, respectively. The bobble band ended up too big after washing, so I frogged back to remove the last bobble and crocheted a slip stitch on the inside at the join of the band to the crown to tighten it up.
  • Kellan’s elf hat is a simple hat knit with Adrienne Vittadini Mia in soft olive  on US 10.5 (ribbing) and 11s. I’ll try to write up the pattern and post a pdf.
  • Liam’s sweater is vintage (ha!). It is the first sweater that I ever knit and was originally made for my godson Aydan 12 or so years ago. It thrills me to no end that it’s still around and being worn.

4 weeks

The new guy is four weeks old today. And here’s what it looks like at our house (for about 2 minutes – the rest of the time it’s complete chaos). Pan still thinks he’s the top dog.

Kellan is still an eating machine. He’s growing so fast. We’ve already packed up the newborn clothes and some of the 0-3 months onsies are getting rather snug. Some days Kellan is awake for an hour or more at a stretch, others he still sleeps most of the time. He’s given us his first real smile. The first was at the sound of daddy’s voice and the second was for me (yay!).

We’re working on our tummy time now. Much like his big brother, Kellan only tolerates it for a few minutes. Still, doctor’s orders…

it's ok. tummy time is done.

What fun.

PS. I started knitting the blanket pictured above while pregnant with Liam and finally finished it the week before Kellan was born. It’s OpArt knitted with Knit Picks Swish DK washable wool.

and on the knitting front…

A super quick – like 4 hours including gauge recalulation and swatch – and easy hat. Adapted from EZ’s adult Snail Hat to fit Liam’s melon. Yeah, he’s not a big fan of hats…
