baby galway

My first project from Aran Knitting, by Alice Starmore. The original design is intended for a child, but I made a baby version. It’s terribly cute, just hope it fits…

Pattern: Galway, by Alice Starmore from Aran Knitting (the best Christmas present ever, thanks hubby!)

Yarn: stash Knit Picks Bare Merino/Silk, fingering weight, about 1 skein (used every last drop of my leftovers)

Needles: US 0 (2mm) circs

Mods: Altered the pattern to fit a newborn 13” circumference, 5-inch depth (unstretched).

Gauge: 8sts=1” in stockinette

Brim: complete 7, 20 row pattern repeats for a total of 140 rows

Crown: Pick up 90 sts (2 for every 3 rows -3). Follow the instructions starting with the Third Dec. except:

Fourth Dec.
